Every season, I feel like the writers just top themselves, and it gets better and better, even though every season is amazing. My 10-year-old son, who plays the Pupa, has never been allowed to watch Solar Opposites because it's so dirty, and they make us bleep a bunch of it. He came back at the end of the previous season.
One person's writing, one person's recording, and one person's directing. The Wall story in Season 5 leads to a really epic Season 6 Wall story. Getting to do that and see it play out is just awesome. "We've [also] got Commander Czar coming back from the end of the previous season. Writing is hard, but we have such a blast that the writing team has been pretty similar from the get-go and so is the art team.
We like carrying that stuff along, but our bread and butter is really the Solars themselves. We love telling stories about them being in love and being chaotic and everything else is kind of like cream on top. Our show is about a gay couple who are immigrants who are living in America, and that's the most normal thing about the show. I'm really happy that people have found it.
Hulu really supported us, and so did 20th, to do a show nobody's ever seen before... They go to school, they refer to each other as brother and sister, and Jessie is pretty excited to be able to have school girl crushes.
In a way, Terry and Korvo are their parents. It really does feel like you're getting together with all your buds to get to do another crazy thing.
Did you ever have any idea that Solar Opposites would turn out to be so wildly popular?
McMahan: Because we were kind of a sister show to Rick and Morty, and because I had worked on Rick and Morty for eight years...

Episode 4.5: The Solar Opposites try to prevent Yumyulack from discovering that it's his Birth-a-Day, when he will acquire enough power to destroy them all. With Jerry O'Connell. No indicaton that Korvo and Terry are a romantic couple.Results: Five of eight episodes identify Korvo and Terry as a gay couple. Two use the term "husband," two reference sexual activity, and one shows a kiss. They aren't exactly "loud and proud," but it's better than a lot of "are they or aren't they" prevarication.

As the sixth and final season of "Solar Opposites" is set to premiere, the cast and crew are prepared to say goodbye to the Opposite family for now.
"The aliens are leaving, but we got so many more stories to tell to get people prepared for that," said co-creator and executive producer Mike McMahan at the Comic-Con Variety Studio presented by Google TV.
As the series premiered in 2020, "Solar Opposites" has grown to explore various sectors of space with new species for the family to cause chaos with.
We did an episode where they're all standing in line the entire episode. It's clear, over time, that the whole family loves each other, though.
In fact, we hear Terry call Korvo, "My Korvy", which hints at the fact that he does love his partner. Tiffany Haddish, Kieran Culkin, Christina Hendricks, Ken Marino, Alfred Molina, Natalie Morales, Jerry O'Connell and Beck Bennett will guest star.
"This character called The Dude was a big deal the first couple seasons and is played by Alfred Molina.
I can't wait for people to see it.
