Myrtle Beach, SC – A Hip Gay Lifestyle on the Grand Strand
The Grand Strand is a sixty-mile stretch of beach along the coast of South Carolina that goes from Georgetown, South Carolina to the Little River. The hub of this beautiful area, which is sunny all year round and is perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and water sports is the posh, very gay-friendly city of Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is like a perfect mini-city with all of the perks of a bigger place and all of the amenities of a smaller resort town. If you love beautiful thunderstorms and gorgeous sunsets you will love living in one of the affordable, glassy new condos along the beach that offer scenic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Although the entire city is, in general, LGBT-friendly, the main “gay drag” in Myrtle Beach is considered to be at the intersection of Main Street and King’s Highway. This is where you will find most of the gay cafes and bars. The city also has its own leather gay club called CLAWS and it is home to both the Myrtle Beach Pride Parade and the big South Carolina Pride Parade.
Living here would be like living in a beautiful spa resort all year round. During the summer the beaches are crowded with thousands of people and the good news is that many of them are gay visitors from all over the United States and Canada who just want to soak up the sand on the sugar-white beach sands. This is also makes Myrtle Beach a popular place to buy a time-share. Many also appreciate the climate, which is slightly drier than the humid states to the south.
Single gay residents are always meeting new people because of the huge number of gay visitors that flock to the area. Myrtle beach is well known for its clubs including Pulse, Sandlappers, Rumors and a newer gay show bar called Masquerade. There are more casual places to meet a as well such as the Time Out pool bar and the acclaimed Rainbow House which has a popular outdoor patio.
If you love to golf then Myrtle Beach is also the place for you.
One of the star attractions is the old Pavillions and remnants of amusement parks that are still intact but not in operation along the shoreline. There are old carousels, signs and ancient carnival organs. It even has a huge white SkyWheel.
Myrtle Beach is a popular place to buy or rent a condo, time-share or a cottage so it is best to consult with a gay realtor who lives there to find out what the story is with regards to housing availability and pricing.
