Where to Stay in Gay Lisbon: Best Neighborhoods
Lisbon boasts a world-famous LGBTQ+ neighborhood known as the Príncipe Real district.
Easily reachable by train or bus, Porto offers its own unique charm and vibrant LGBTQ+ scene. I highly recommend this one.
Address: 1200 241, R. das Salgadeiras 28, Lisboa, Portugal
Trumps
Looking to dance into the early hours? Consider acquiring a universal adapter for charging electronic devices.
I immediately notice its status as a lively capital. With its modern facilities and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s easily the most popular men’s sauna in Lisbon.
For a more inclusive atmosphere, there’s Sauna SaunApolo which welcomes gays, lesbians, trans, and any other member of the LGBTQ+ community.
It’s complicated to get there by public transport but you can catch an Uber which takes about 40 minutes, or drive if you have a rental car.
My favorite beach near Lisbon though is Praia da Figueirinha, which is within the stunning Arabida National Park. Yes, Lisbon is gay-friendly!

How do I get around Lisbon?
- Public Transit: Portugal's principal cities boast efficient public transit systems encompassing buses, trams, and metro trains. The best part? As it is not so crowded, it is a great pre-game for other bars like Maria Caxuxa or Side Bar.
- Side Bar: Join the party at Side Bar, a popular gay venue offering a mix of cocktails and music in a lively setting and decorated in the most wild of fashions.
The Latebirds Lisbon Guesthouse is in an excellent location close to many of the city’s gay bars and establishments. Seek out flights to Lisbon, Porto, or Faro airports for convenient entry to various regions. We got you covered.

Gay Clubs in Lisbon
- Construction Lisbon Club: For those that are more into the circuit scene, this is the place to be. It has outdoor seating which is perfect in the summer, but it’s a popular spot so booking is recommended.
Address: Tv. da Boa Hora 27, 1200-063 Lisboa, Portugal
Pastéis de Belém
For exceptional pastries, including Pastel de natas, be sure to visit this popular Lisbon bakery.
GAY HANGOUTS
A few of the city's most popular bars and clubs (such as "Lux" - the best club in the city whether you're gay or straight) attract a significant gay crowd, and you don't need to go to strictly gay hangouts to meet gay locals -- a number of cafés in the Chiado district are popular meeting points for everyone, as well as the Armazéns do Chiado shopping mall.
Overall, Portugal's commitment to LGBTQ rights and inclusion has fostered a more inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBTQ individuals, couples, and families alike.
So to sum that all up. These are very inviting areas, with a myriad of restaurants, bars, bookstores, antique shops and clubs.
Like, really late. Not to mention the energy from the in-house drag queens which is unmatched.
Address: R. da Imprensa Nacional 104B, 1250-127 Lisboa, Portugal
Finalmente Club
Another bar serving up exceptional drag entertainment, Finalmente has been a staple of Lisbon’s gay nightlife since 1976.
While your elderly neighbor might raise an eyebrow, the younger crowd in urban areas couldn't care less about who you're dating. And even though the queens speak mostly Portuguese, the performance can be enjoyed by anyone!
Address: R. da Palmeira 38 R/C, 1200-313 Lisboa, Portugal
