Celebrating Gay Uncles Day
A Tribute to Love, Diversity, and Family
Family is the bedrock of our lives, providing support, love, and a sense of belonging.

Quality Time: Sometimes, the best gift is simply spending quality time together.
Whether a niece or nephew (or someone else) is gay or in some other way feeling isolated and different from the norm, your presence can make a huge difference. I didn't really have a lot of men around me growing up who were comfortable being soft and sensitive and nurturing. I want them to always know they can love and be loved by whomever, ultimately knowing they were made perfectly perfect.
Quickly realizing that parenting (even if temporary) isn't solved with treats and jokes, Patrick's eyes are opened to a new sense of responsibility, and the realization that, sometimes, even being larger than life means you're unfailingly human.

The ABC hit sitcom was one of the first to introduce Guncles to the broad, prime-time audience.
"I'm comfortable in my masculinity, but I'm also comfortable in my feminine characteristics. Guncle Day honors not only blood relatives but also those queer aunts and uncles who are part of chosen family structures.
What Does It Mean to Be a Guncle (or Gauntie)?
The term “guncle” has become a playful way to describe gay uncles, but the spirit of the day extends far beyond one label.
It’s a day that blends celebration with education, joy with purpose, and family love with queer pride.
Imagine a future where every second Sunday in August is widely recognized: classrooms making space to talk about diverse families, workplaces encouraging employees to honor their queer relatives, and media shining a spotlight on the importance of LGBTQIA+ role models in family structures.
